In-house does not mean automatic.

Very’s autumn campaign makes a case for recognizable brand codes—and for being precise about what a production announcement actually proves.

What happened

Very’s September 8 announcement describes an autumn campaign launched on September 5, led by its internal brand team and HelloStudio. Its cube identity becomes a portal through the retailer’s offer. The release credits Production Factory with film support and Zenith with media planning and buying.

Keep the claim narrow

The same release describes HelloStudio’s wider use of virtual production, generated environments and automated workflows. That is not a shot-by-shot declaration that this particular film was generated by AI. A studio capability and a campaign production record are different pieces of evidence.

Our reading

The interesting in-house advantage is accumulated context. A team working repeatedly with the same products and brand codes can spend less of each brief explaining what belongs. But familiarity can also flatten the work. The useful review question is whether the new execution adds a fresh reason to notice a familiar device.

A recognizable cube doing a clear narrative job is easier to evaluate than a vague claim that the workflow became more innovative. Ask what the asset connects, how quickly the offer becomes legible and what survives in a short cutdown. Those are decisions a production method should serve, not replace.

What remains open

Neither ownership of the studio nor use of AI establishes lower total costs or better results. The announcement does not provide a controlled comparison. Judge the work in market before turning an organizational choice into a universal production recipe.
